GBA Counterfeiters getting slicker

GBA Counterfeiters getting slicker

Here's an example of how bad it is getting in the counterfeit Gameboy Advance cart marketplace:

The carts above are all fake and it is quite obvious to the trained eye when you examine the circuit board. However, the outer cases were surprisingly similar to the real items. They all carried the code AGB-002 on the back of the case. The label quality was very good - almost as crisp as a real cart label although still stuck not quite straight. The copiers had gone out of their way to replicate the original Leaf Green and Fire Red by stamping a 2 digit code on the label. This is the first time that we had received nongen carts with codes stamped on.

Of course, none of these carts found their way into our stock and were all destroyed as soon as they were identified as fake.

For piece of mind when buying a Gameboy Advance Pokemon cart, you can be assured that you will never receive a fake from Chillout Games

Selling Playstation 1 Games

The Playstation One was the stand out console of the 90s and early 00s but it has largely been forgotten by the modern high street gamer even though it ushered in an era of 3D graphic gameplay with a wealth of iconic gaming characters such as Crash, Abe and Spyro. Sadly, this inevitably ends up with the classic Playstation console retired to the same cupboard as the dusty old hi-fi and redundant VHS player, now that pretty much all high street and online shops will simply refuse to accept it.

Fortunately for those wishing to make a little more room (and cash), online games specialists chilloutgames.co.uk will give an instant online quote for old Playstation games and kit. What’s cool about these guys is that the online selling cart gives you a price based on what condition your games are in, and as long as they’re as you said they were you’ll get paid the price on screen within 2 days of the parcel reaching them. Of course some of your old games are going to have bits missing, scratched discs and broken boxes, and no one likes turning up at a trade in shop only to be told your stuff is too tatty to sell. Just make sure you edit the condition of all your items; whether or not you’re missing a manual or a few of the cases are cracked, Chillout Games will take them off your hands for a great price because they have a large number of loyal customers who have been buying PS1 games off them since 2003.

It’s really easy to get a quote for your old games, just go to chilloutgames.co.uk and click on the 'Sell' tab. Now just type in the barcode, or search by name to find your item. It will then pop into the selling cart below with the price you’ll get for it. Click on the ‘Edit’ button to open the drop down menus that you use to grade your games, and select their condition. From like new to scruffy or even faulty (not working) you’ll get a fair price. It’s only reasonable that you get more for the stuff that’s in better condition. With help on grading your games click on the 'Selling Help' tab at the top of the screen for a detailed description of each condition.

By the way, it’s not only Playstation games you can sell on the site, but thousands and thousands of titles, consoles and accessories from almost every platform, new or old. Throw in some unwanted Mega Drive carts, the latest PS3 release you just didn’t really get into, or even your old Nintendo 64 if you like. Bear in mind you can sell any combination of platform, game or accessory.

Keep on adding items until you’ve reached the lower limit of 15 items totalling at least £30. It’s worth noting that if your quote reaches a total of £70 or more, Chillout Games will cover the cost of the courier to come and pick your parcel up. Does your quote come to less that £70? Then you’ll receive 10% postage credit. Once you’re done and happy with the price you’ll get, choose how you with to be paid. Receive cash safely and securely through PayPal, or choose the shop credit option and get more money for your games to spend on the Chillout Games website.

Make sure your items are packed up well before you send them in. Check out 'Packing Guidelines' under the 'Selling Help' tab to make sure your games arrive in the same condition you sent them. Once your parcel is delivered and gets to Chillout Games, you’re guaranteed to get paid within 48 hours.

So whether you’re a gamer old or new, buying or selling, it’s got to be worth checking out Chillout Games.

Selling Retro Games.

Selling Retro Games
Parting with fond memories

If you’re of a certain age you may remember a time when SNES came to people’s homes, maybe the Sega Megadrive or even the 7800  and you may still have one today! Or one of the many other old school consoles, and games to boot. If they’ve ended up just collecting dust on a shelf, why not get some money for them, by selling them online!

At Chillout Games we give you money or store credit based on the condition of your games, you can decide the quality of your case, cartridge/disk and manual to get an accurate quote. Just type in the barcode or search for the games you’re selling and we’ll give you an instant quote. You can only get paid when you have at least 15 games worth over £30 but with the massive range of platforms we supply it’ll be a cakewalk like Green Hill Zone. If you don’t meet the criteria you can always save your quote for later.

Once you have input all the games you want to sell, just choose your payment type, cash or store-credit, than decide whether you will be delivering them by post in which case we’ll give you 10% postal credit or if you want us to arrange a courier to pick them up.

So now you need to sign in or create an account to add your payment address and collection date for a courier, once packing and selling terms are agreed with all that’s left is to click the continue button to get a formal quote on the games you’re selling. An email will be sent to you with a copy of your quote and a quote number, along with a page to check the status of your games.

When Packing the retro games you wish to sell, you should bare in mind what damages could entail whilst in transit, here are a few guidelines on how to prevent any damages. First of all is the box you wish to place your games in, cause if it rips or tears you may lose all your goods. depending on how much your parcel is going to weigh depends on the grams per metre squared (gsm)

  • 300gsm is recommended for anything  up to 10kg

  • Double walled 150gsm is recommended for 10-15kg

  • Double walled 200gsm is recommended for 15-25kg

The Courier company used by Chillout Games is called Yodel they have a generous limit of 25kg for each package and it must be under 1.2 metres in length.

Once you’ve got the appropriate box, it can’t hurt to strengthen it with a bit of tape on the inner seams, I would recommend parcel tape for this as  it’s robust enough to hold the weight of the games you’re selling no matter the size. You should also wrap your games individually in bubble wrap, newspaper or anything cushioning and lightweight to prevent them from getting chipped or breaking off one another; this is doubly advised with the more fragile cases.

Now just pad the inside of the box with polystyrene chips, crumpled paper or anything lightweight and able to absorb vibrations and knocks, this will also help prevent the box being squished when it’s placed under other packages during it’s travels.

Finally just close and seal the contents securely with parcel tape to ensure nothing falls out. If all this is followed you’re games should arrive in the same condition they left. Otherwise you may not get as much money as your quote had said due to the quality they arrive in is not as you said.

So, selling retro games isn’t scary at all now is it!

Selling SNES games online.

Got some old SNES games that just gather dust in your wardrobe? Seen a new game that you just can't afford? Well those SNES games may be worth more than the dust collectors they currently are. Chillout Games will take those old games from you and magically transform them into cash! The procedure couldn't be simpler. Head over to http://www.chilloutgames.co.uk/ and create an account. After that’s all sorted, click the “Sell” tab convenient located at the top of the page. Now the good part starts.

There are two ways for you to begin adding your games to the quote. The first is to check the back of the box for barcode. The number under it is what you need. Just type the code into the first box, hit search and your game should appear in the quote list below. If you have no casing for your game, just type the name of the game and select format it is on to get a list of relevant titles. Pick the one you own and your done!  Pretty good right? But hold on a second! Be sure to edit the condition of each item component before adding more games. You will need to grade the disc/cart, inlay, case and manual. Here’s how to grade your games correctly:

The case on a SNES is basically the box the cart is stored in. If you have no box, then just select missing. The things to look out for on a SNES box are things like tears, pen, pencil, paint or any other marks, squashed markings (can happen when the box is sat on and is puffed up again), piercing marks, colour fade (can happen when the box is left on a window sill), water logging (the box will appear warped due to the water drying up) and wear and tear (cardboard is showing through the design on the box). You may notice more things on the box than are listed here, but be sure to check the selling help section of the Chillout Games website for grading guidelines.

Grading the manual is basically the same thing. Be sure to check thoroughly that there are no missing pages, writing (such as cheat codes or notes), torn pages, rusted staples (they leave a brown mark on the pages), badly crumpled or violently folded .

The disc is a little harder to grade, so take a look at it under good lighting. The easiest things to notice is deep scratched. Can you feel them with your finger or nail? Can it be noticed as soon as you look at the disc? If so, it's scruffy. Are there bad scratches on the top of the disc? Is there writing, glue or any other marks on the disc? Again, be sure to check the guidelines online while you’re grading your games. One more thing, don't tell porkies! Every game we receive is checked by a member of staff.

Your quote must reach a minimum of 15 games, with a total price of at least £30. After that, keep adding until you’re happy with everything, scroll down and select how you want to be paid. You can choose a secure cash transaction through PayPal or Shop Credit. If you’re thinking of buying a game from us, why not select shop credit? You will get more for your quote! Happy days! Is your order over £70? Select the second delivery option, and we'll take care of everything for you free of charge! If you are setting up the delivery, then how you package it is very important. You don't want your games to become damaged in transit do you? Of course not! So here are some tips to help you out!

Packing Box – Be sure to use a sturdy, strong and relevantly thick box. If you used an old, word box it could fall apart in the delivery van! A good box ensures your games get to us safely and securely. Tape up the folds with some good quality tape for extra security.

Safety Wrap – We've all been in a car. It's not always a relaxing experience! The same goes for your games. Wrapping them in a good bubble wrap or packing paper will make sure they stay safe on the journey, think of it as a seatbelt for your games!

Packing – Make sure there is no air in the box. Any gap should be filled with packing paper or any other packing material or your choice.

Sealing – Seal any seam or opening you see on your box. It may seem a pointless time waster but trust us from experience; it is as important a tip as is on this list. Nothing gets out, nothing gets in!

Guess what? You’re finished! Select continue and enter the details required for the Delivery, Enter your PayPal email address, select the total number of packages being sent, read through and accept the Packing and Quote terms, Click “Get Quote Number Now and your done! Success! After everything is checked out at our facility, you will receive your money! Easy peasy!
